‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Almost Went For A Jesus Cameo In This MCU Movie

Thor: Love and Thunder was indeed quite a ride well not necessarily in a way fans wanted something seen with his best film yet Thor: Ragnorak

But the movie seems to have a lot of good and bad stuff here and there as a collection put together in a film rather than a cohesive narrative with a central theme to tell, that usually we can see in good Marvel movies or just good movies.

Some said that there was just too much happening in the film where some fans pointed out the unnecessary character arc of Thor rediscovering himself, where he already did that through the MCU phases till the Avengers:Endgame

There were a lot of things fans got mad about, sometimes due to Jane Foster’s CGI arm or a bad looking CGI helmet of hers.

Many complained how the Thor character became a joke in the film, downgrading his stature as a superhero, also belittling his journey, the pain and loss he suffered so far, what connected him so far to the audience.

But even though there were a lot of complaints regarding the film, it was still enjoyable in parts. Moreover, we are focusing on what could have been in the film, making it even more wild.

Well, there were many cameos planned earlier that were about to make appearances in the film, especially in the Thor mythology of gods.

In fact, there was also a plan of Jesus making a cameo in the movie, but dismissed the fact that it might be too soon for him to appear in the Marvel cinematic universe.

Tessa Thompson who plays Valkryie in the movie, the new ‘King’ of Asguard on earth also shared about the same in a recent interview.

Well, there is a suspension of belief when we are talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially with the context of Gods like Thor, but the makers seem to be pushing the envelope way further with their introduction of Jesus.

There were already a lot of screaming goats, gods council with gods of almost everything there, Zeus being buzzkill and so much more.

To be fair, the director of the film Taika Watiti did say himself that this film is going to be “bonkers”.

Tessa Thompson, while talking to Empire Magazine shared how bringing the cameo by ‘Big J’ could have been next level.

She said “There was supposed to be a cutaway to you-know-who. Big J.”

The film features the journey of Tessa Thompson’s Valkryie, Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor on this journey to find the kidnapped kids from Asguard by God butcher.

Tessa Thompson also talked about her character in the recent interview, about where she is now in the film :

“I think she’s very egalitarian,She’s a kind king. I know there’s been some confusion on the internet in terms of the gendering with her being king. The truth is, that’s the job that Thor was going to do, and then he just gave her the job, and we just didn’t bother to change the title, because the title is ‘king’, and she’s like, ‘Well, I can be king.’ The suits that she wears – we thought it was sort of a fun nod to Frida Kahlo.”

Her character becomes quite interesting as it is exploring a lot of bureaucratic elements as handling the administration of New Asgard on Earth. She also added that how she is enjoying her role in the film :

“She feels slightly less enchanted with the bureaucratic elements of New Asgard. It’s really been put on the map by the events that have happened in past movies, so it’s also become this sort of tourist destination. I think she feels entirely proud. The thing about Asgard that’s always been true is, it’s not a place, it’s its people.”

Well, at least her character was well done in this movie unlike Thor or other complaints.

Thor: Love and Thunder actually was meant to be crazier, something the director himself further talked about to Empire about.

He talked about that this movie is going to have its own flavour, and that’s what audience felt but different necessarily doesn’t always mean good.

The director shared how it will be different from Thor: Ragnarok, but certainly crazier that that, which is true in some sense but the movie doesn’t uphold the consistency in the narrative.

Here’s what Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Watiti talked about the film :

“If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love And Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”“It’s very different from Ragnarok,”“It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”

Well, even though we haven’t seen Jesus cameo in the movie, the movie was still quite hilarious, both in good and bad way.
