The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra whom with the titular role actor Dwayne Johnson previously worked with in Disney’s Jungle Cruise.
The DC Extended Universe finally introduces this comics popular anti-hero Black Adams in their live-action projects who was originally introduced in the comics as a villain for the character Shazam.
In fact, earlier, Black Adams character wasn’t going to get its own movie, instead it was about to be as villain in the next Shazam movie but it was Dwayne Johnson who saw the potential in the backstory and the plot of the movie explored better as a solo movie.
The plot of the film follows this superpowered character imbued with god-like powers with an prolong past coming from ancient Kahndaq before he was imprisoned and captured for more than 5,000 years and but later emerged in the today’s era.
The movie has been packed with great action sequences and bringing more than one characters in DCEU such as the whole Justice Society of America.
But more importantly, the movie utilizes one of its post-credit scenes to reintroduce a important character of DCEU – the iconic Henry Cavil’s Superman.
Mind you that Henry Cavil as Superman hasn’t in a DC movie since Justice League lastly released in 2017 where he was first appeared in 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that was actually kicked off the whole DCEU in the first place.
So, what’s really exciting about this Henry Cavill’s cameo in the Black Adam movie, what it means, how It is the return of Cavil’s in DCEU, and much more interesting aspects are following to know :
How’s Henry Cavil’s Cameo Happened In Black Adams Happened? Explained By Henry Cavil Himself
Henry Cavil’s Returning as Superman wasn’t expected at the inception of the Black Adam, simply because he was lastly known to be left the DCEU as Superman.
Since, the news was heartbreaking for the Cavil’s fan as well as the Man of Steel or DCEU version of Superman regarding Cavil’s departure from the franchise, there was no assurance on getting him back, though demanded.
Well, it seem like many things, fan demands worked out, and in the best way possible. And Henry Cavil made his return as cameo in Black Adams.
How it happened is interesting to know as he told to Josh Horowitz in an interview which he shared a clip from on twitter.
Henry Cavil shared how he got the call on the sets of The Witcher, his Netflix series and he wasn’t sure of how he gonna pull that off due to his busy schedule but he did it anyway. Here’s the except from the interview :
I was on Witcher and I got the call saying, “Hey, this is happening, when can you do it?”
And I was like, “I’m working six-day weeks, I don’t know when I can do this.”
And they said, “Look, we’ve got these dates.”
And I said, “OK cool, right, I’ll come in and do it.”
And we had to get clearance from Witcher production at the time, but it was so top secret we couldn’t tell them what. We just said “Hey, there’s this thing I’m gonna do. Can you clear me for it?”…
And so then I went to… Warner Bros. Studios in the UK and on a super secret set… everything all hidden, and I got back in the suit, and it was a very powerful moment for me… [It] was very emotionally connective because I put the Man of Steel suit back on.
And I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit, and it was incredibly important for me to just be standing there and enjoying that moment. And that is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again.

Henry Cavil’s Return As Cameo Fixing A Major Superman Problem
With Henry Cavil’s coming back to DCEU as Superman as his appearance in Black Adams, it is suspected that the film is going to fix a major Superman problem.
As we know that Superman was the one to start DCEU in the first place with the movie Man of Steel which can be put equivalent to Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man in MCU.
Henry Cavil did become highly recognized as Superman and further made his appearances in more DCEU movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
However, as last we know the actor left out the negotiation to be the part of the franchise due to the troubles in the contract, and this came out to be a mixed reaction amongst the audience.
Even though DCEU is currently facing too many problems starting from many cancellations of projects to Synderverse fiasco, the most predominant setback they get was regarding the Superman’s portrayal in their universe.
According to lot of critics, fans and comic readers, Superman from this DCEU is quite different from what they know in comics, and actually completely opposite.
DCEU’s superman is more brooding, glooming and serious. He doesn’t really signifies the ideals of truth, hope and justice. Cavil’s version, in fact seem to be quite around Batman.
However, there is a chance that Henry Cavill’s newly returned Superman will be different from what we have seen. It will be much closer to the comics’ version, as a symbol of hope and light.
So, this primarily comes from the Henry Cavil’s recent post on Instagram where he used the caption “The Dawn of the Hope Renewed”.
This vaguely teases the direction the DCEU will be taking with Henry Cavil’s returned Superman, and also what they should have taken in the first place.
Superman’s future in the DCEU seems to be more something to look forward to. Since, his return is already teased, fans wonder in what project he will be featured next?
There are rumours that Henry Cavil’s Superman will be making an appearance in The Flash although there is no confirmation, but given the kind of narrative they are going for, he might be.
Not to forget the fact that Black Adam and Superman conflict is going to be a long-term storyline, so there might be project entirely on that like we got Batman vs Superman, hopefully better.
Still no projects like that have been announced yet. Then the most obvious ones is Henry Cavil’s Superman returning in Man of Steel 2 as there are rumors regarding that project to be started soon.
So, there is more or less these three projects in which next improved Superman we might get to see. But before even that, we are looking forward to get any confirmation which possibly come to us sooner than we expect.
Henry Cavil’s Return Might Be Saving Supergirl From The Flash Disaster
DCEU is right now in hot waters, and they are going through some tough times will be an understatement.
With so much going on such as cancelling projects, consistent delays and too much of personal controversies from DC actors, directors and producers, there are so much to lose.
This is specially true for Sasha Calle’s Supergirl character who caught up in the The Flash disaster. Perhaps the biggest hiccup for DCEU right now with so many things going wrong with this project.
First the Ezra Miller’s behaviour and controversies, and then rumours regarding him being replaced and debunking of those rumours. The consistent delays of that project which just hampering the overall storyline of DC cinematic universe to move on and evolve.
Sasha Calle’s Supergirl chances to become a crucial character in The Flash is getting slim but with Henry Cavil’s return as Superman. she could be featured alongside him in the next Superman movies.
And this is more than just the save because appropriately, so Supergirl is cousin of Superman, so their storyline is if nothing, surely due in the DCEU to come.
Earlier, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl expected to come from a different universe from Henry Cavil’s universe or simply the DCEU canon universe we know as Barry Allen explores the multiverse in the new The Flash movie.
So, when the news came out that Henry Cavil wouldn’t be returning as Superman, it was safe to assume that Supergirl would take her place in the world.
However, with Man of Steel returned in Black Adams cameo, Supergirl, first, not be put aside rather explores the possibility of a team-up.
Instead of rebooting the universe where Supergirl is the only Super exist, she can be just come from other universe here and be part of DCEU, alongside Superman.
Or if they want to explore the possibility of Supergirl being in this universe only, they have to give a serious explanation where she was until now, which is too much to do, so they better stick to the multiverse theory.
Moreover, this Supergirl still deserve a solo movie in the DCEU, especially after the sadly cancellation of Bat-girl, this can be a good news.
Overall, it is safe to say that Superman’s return in the DCEU makes Supergirl’s position and potential more stable and explorable rather than being completely depending upon the shaky boat of The Flash project.
Henry Cavil Explains Why John William Score Used Instead Of Hans Zimmer
Another interesting fact about the Henry Cavil’s cameo in Black Adams as Superman was the theme choice for the scene.
Fans wondered why John Williams score was used in the cameo scene of Henry Cavil’s re-entry in DCEU in the movie, instead of the Hans Zimmer one, which we commonly used to.
The Kal-El returns in a post-credit scene of Black Adam movie where he challenges the Johnson’s hero who is now the self-appointed protector of Kahndaq.
Superman’s first line to his entry was “It’s been awhile since anyone’s made the world this nervous,” following by “Black Adam? We should talk”.
Clearly, Superman and Black Adam are going to have more confrontations than that. This is merely a tease, and also what’s Dwayne Johnson was talking about regarding his plans for a full-on Black Adam vs Superman showdown.
Apart from this confrontation, another aspect of the scene that made things exciting was the use of music behind. The fans noticed that the score was used in the scene was not from Hans Zimmer’s Man of Steel music rather the original Superman score by iconic composer Williams.
Another reason to suspect that Superman is going to be different in his return in the DCEU, closer to the comic book version rather the Man of Steel one.
It was a surprisingly exciting to hear the original score of Superman on Henry Cavil’s return, and on the same, the actor himself shared his remarks about it, in the quote below:
“John Williams’ theme song is obviously incredibly important to the character. It’s something which resonates with the character and everything time I think anyone in the world hears that, I think a large portion of the world who hears that will recognize it immediately as Superman and feel a certain way about it, and I do think it’s wonderful.”
