Just the week after the premier, the first episode of Game of Thrones prequel show House of the Dragon, got renewed for season 2.

In fact, it has also been reported that season 2 was already on by the makers of the show before even the first episode premiered.

The premier of the show on August 21st, 2022 brought around 9.986 million viewers, making it the largest audience viewership for any new or original HBO series in the history of their streaming. That’s what the stremaing platform boasted about the success of the show, so far.

Francesca Orsi, the Executive Vice President of HBO Programming shared this in a press release regarding the premier of the show :

“We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with season one. Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV.”

Orsi went further to add “We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with season two.”

However there is no date announced for the premier of the House of the Dragon, season 2 whereas the season 1 premier happened right after a year of their announcement on twitter.

House of the Dragon features over a century ago in the Game of Thrones universe where a civil war within the House Targaryen led to the downfall of this dragon house, which was the ancestral house of Elimila Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen.

HBO Network already has a Jon Snow sequel series in development which is soon to be released.

The John Snow sequel series will be covering his journey from this less sigficant personality to biggest power players in the Westros.

The show presumably will follow the journeys of the character as we saw him going to the other side wall.

He might even become the ‘The King Beyond The Wall’ before he explores some other supernatural threat like Whitewalkers or maybe Whitewalkers aren’t all gone.

If you remember, he was exiled in the Game of Thrones season 8 finale for murdering the Queen Daenerys Targaryen. Now it will be interesting to see whether he will explore more of what beyond the wall or be dragged back to Westros or even both.
