One of the most popular shows of this decade, Euphoria, is coming back with season 3, but there will be someone you will miss from the cast of the third season.
Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat, won’t be returning in season 3. So far, this is the most important news from the cast of Euphoria season 3.
Euphoria is one of the biggest hits from HBO, actually the most watched show after Game of Thrones as per the per episode viewership of season 2 sums up around 16 million viewers.
Here’s what the Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, said about the success and popularity of the show :
“Sam [Levinson], Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season 3.”
In the duration of the second season, when the show was breaking records in popularity, HBO announced the third season for this show, with the cast revealed on Feb 4, 2022.
Now, as per the cast of season 3, Zendaya is definitely returning for season 3 as her character Rue.
Other cast members will be reprising their roles, such as Maude Apatow as Lexi, Jacob Elorid as Nate, Hunter Schafer as Jules, Angus Cloud as Fezco, Nika King as Leslie, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Alexa Demie as Maddy, and more.
However, as mentioned, Barbie Ferreira won’t be joining the cast this time which was revealed on August 24, 2022.
She was the only one to confirm that her return is not to expect on the show for the third season, as she shared on her Instagram Story.
Here’s what she had to say about leaving the show :
“After 4 years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye, I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you, Katherine Hernandez.”
She wrote this by posting a picture of a draw of her character by her co-star Hunter Schafer.
When it comes to leaving the show, there was also speculation around Zendaya that her character might get killed off this season; however, the Chief Content Officer of HBO, Casey Bloys, clarified this matter.
He shared this to TVLine “It’s hard to imagine doing [the] show without her, But, again, that would be something [for] her and Sam to discuss,” adding that she indeed going to be in the third season and so on.
Fans have to wait longer for season 3, and filming is yet to be expected to start sometime in 2023, so it is quite far from the release for now.
