With the rising popularity of television shows like Teen Wolf, werewolves have certainly taken over the mainstream culture over the past few decades.
Since the early days of the werewolf in Europe throughout the Middle Ages, werewolves have been a central element of folklore and culture.
There is no denying that the general public has always loved werewolves and will continue to do so. These creatures, which only manifest during a full moon in their wolf-like shape, have proven themselves to be prominent, scary creatures.
The werewolf television shows on the list below all feature elements that will appeal to viewers, including coming-of-age storylines, exciting twists on the classic werewolf, and feelings of teen nostalgia.
Bitten (2014 – 2016)

Bitten is a Canadian television series based on Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series of books.
The series’ first book served as the source of inspiration for the name. The majority of the filming for this original Space series took place in Toronto and Cambridge, Ontario.
Elena Michaels believed she had left the magical world behind when she left Stonehaven “for good this time.” Up until the evening, she received a strange call from her pack leader requesting her to return.
She is now returning to the world of werewolves, which is full of laws meant to protect the pack and a man she has been trying to forget for years, leaving her normal life as a photojournalist in Toronto behind. Elena is the last remaining female werewolf, which makes things even worse.
Werewolf (1987 – 1988)

College student Eric Cord had an ordinary life until the evening when his roommate Ted gave him a revolver and a box of silver bullets.
Ted is a werewolf who has been killing people and informs Eric that killing him is his only way out. A red pentagram on Ted’s right palm prefigures the upcoming transformation.
Ted chooses to prove his situation in response to Eric’s doubt. He asks Eric to bind him to a chair and wait until midnight, at which point he can decide whether to believe Ted or get expert help.
Ted turns into a werewolf at midnight, causing his friend to shoot and kill him, but not before he attempts to bite Eric. Eric soon finds a pentagram in his hand, and shortly after that, he turns into a seven-foot-tall werewolf.
Eric Cord, who is currently on the run after killing his friend, spends the rest of the series trying to track down and kill the mysterious Janos Skorzeny, the man who started his lineage, in hopes of lifting the curse.
She-Wolf of London (1990 – 1991)

Randi Wallace, a graduate student from the United States, goes to Great Britain to study mythology under Professor Ian Matheson.
She expects a stuffy, elderly scholar when she arrives, but Ian is youthful, and they both feel an immediate attraction to one another. Once Randi spends a night camping on the moors and gets bitten by a werewolf, that problem quickly becomes insignificant.
Randi and Ian spend the remaining episodes of the series looking into paranormal occurrences while trying to find a remedy for Randi’s curse.
When they eventually return to Randi’s home state of California, and Ian accepts the job of host of a trashy television talk show specializing in paranormal phenomena, their search moves them from British academics to American television.
The Order (2019 – 2020)

The Order, which is set against a renowned university campus, is a fascinating series since, in comparison to many others in the fantasy genre, it has so far shunned any parallels to vampire mythology.
A freshman at Belgrave University, Jack Morton isn’t only there to learn. He must restore his relationship with his estranged father, who also serves as the head of The Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, a secretive society of magicians with headquarters in Belgrave, to solve the mystery surrounding his mother’s death.
As Jack gets more deeply involved in the group, he learns that they are at war with The Knights of Saint Christopher, yet another secret society, this one made up of werewolves.
Hemlock Grove (2013 – 2015)
Director- Brian McGreevy

The series was created and written by McGreevy, who also served as producer alongside Eli Roth, a well-known personality in the horror industry. In the fictional Pennsylvanian town of Hemlock Grove, people live on opposite sides of the social class spectrum, either in severe poverty or extreme luxury.
Peter Rumancek, a young Romani teenager, is instantly recognized as a suspect after two young girls are brutally murdered and dumped without a trace. He is also said to be a werewolf.
He is, of course, but he’s determined to at least clear his name of the killings and receives some unexpected help from the grandson of one of the most prominent families in the area.
Castlevania (2017 – present)
Director- Kevin Kolde and Fred Seibert

This is one of the most excellent anime horror series online. It’s humorous, gloomy, witty, moving, and totally engaging.
In the medieval European setting of “Castlevania,” Trevor Belmont and his fellow hunters hunt down terrible creatures as they inch closer to catching and stopping Count Dracula and his army of bloodthirsty vampires from slaughtering the whole human race.
Richard Armitage and Theo James are among the speakers in this brilliantly animated series. You must not miss “Castlevania” if you enjoy mysticism and supernatural beings like werewolves and vampires.
Sirius the Jaeger (2018)
Director- Masahiro Andō

This Japanese original anime series is set in the Imperial Capital of 1930. It focuses on a group of people known as the Jaegers who travel to Tokyo to hunt monsters using their unique hunting equipment.
After his village is burned down and destroyed by a group of vampires, Yuliy, a werewolf with a totally distinct aura from the rest of them, joins their ranks.
With different goals for eliminating the vampires, Yuliy and the Jaegers fight against “The Arc of Sirius” together. But there’s more in store for them.
This features a plot that is exactly what you anticipate it to be, fascinating characters, and lots of awesome action.
This show is ideal for you to watch if action, gore, vampires, and characters with a lot of depth are all your thing. It is still incredibly entertaining.
The Kirlian Frequency (2019)

The highly unusual program “The Kirlian Frequency” has the spookiest atmosphere. The protagonist of the tale is a DJ for a midnight broadcast who tells legends about Kirlian, a hidden continent in Argentina.
The length of each episode is roughly ten minutes, and each one offers a unique, weird story with just one thing in common: the mysterious city of Kirlian, which is unreachable by ordinary folks.
Unlike anything you’ve ever seen, the show is incredibly unique and interesting. Viewers will definitely fall in love with this program if they enjoy short horror stories.
Teen Wolf (2011-2017)

Beacon Hills, California – an apt name for a place that literally serves as a beacon for various supernatural beings. This is the backdrop for the MTV program Teen Wolf, which takes its name from a series of films from the 1910s but has no connection with them.
At the start of the show, Scott McCall, a lacrosse-playing high school student, is bitten by an Alpha werewolf while having fun with his best friend, Stiles.
Scott gains control over his strength and newly discovered power while being mentored by Derek Hale, a Beta-turned-Alpha from a legendary werewolf family who was born with the wolf gene.
Eventually, Scott decides that it is his duty to defend his friends, family, and the citizens of Beacon Hills from shapeshifters, nogitsune, lampreys, Garuda, other werewolves, and any other creatures that wander into his territory.
Grimm (2011–2017)

Nick Burkhardt, a detective in Portland, has seen some horrifying murder scenes. Still, nothing can prepare him for the weird visions he starts to see: absolutely normal people abruptly turning into hideous monsters.
The truth is exposed when his last living relative visits him. Nick is a “Grimm,” a person who has inherited the capacity to see supernatural beings and whose job it is to maintain harmony between the mythical and the real world.
His best (and most reluctant) buddy and confidant is a reformed “Big Bad Wolf.” It isn’t long until Nick’s profession as a cop takes him to crooks he thought only existed in fairy tales.
Angel (1999–2004)

A creature of the night emerges as Los Angeles’ best hope in a city overrun with warlocks, demons, and some seriously evil lawyers.
Angel, a vampire with a soul who was once a cruel vampire that ravaged Europe, assists the weak in order to receive his recompense from the Powers that Be—to be forgotten and recover his humanity.
In quest of his mission, he creates Angel Investigations with the help of a strange (but highly effective) group of anti-evil combatants, including aspiring actress Cordelia Chase, literate Brit Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, and street fighter Charles Gunn.
Moonlight (2007–2008)

Mick St. John, a private detective who has been a vampire for more than fifty years, is presented in the pilot.
At the scene of a young woman’s murder, he encounters Beth Turner, a writer for the web publication BuzzWire. Together, Mick and Beth start the investigation into the incident and work to identify the culprit.
A domestic battle between Mick and his ex-wife Coraline Duvall about a kidnapped girl is shown in flashbacks from 22 years ago. Coraline is abandoned to the flames as Mick destroys the house and saves the girl.
It is revealed that the young girl, now known as Beth, is an adult and that Mick tried to look out for and protect her throughout her life.
In the present, Beth finds out that Mick is a vampire, and Mick explains how one becomes a vampire and tells her how he was turned on their wedding night by his bride, Coraline.
Blade (2006)

After serving in Iraq, soldier Krista Starr returns home to discover that her twin brother Zack passed away suddenly.
She finds that Zack is a “familiar” person who works for a vampire in the expectation of receiving eternal life in return.
Krista’s investigation takes her to Blade, a vampire hunter, and Marcus Van Sciver, who killed Zack. Marcus is a strong vampire and a prominent Chthon family member.
Marcus is infatuated with Krista and injects his own blood into her, turning her into a vampire.
Then Blade comes up to Krista and injects her with the serum he uses to restrain his own vampire urges, giving her a chance to avenge her brother’s death and help him take down Marcus and the House of Chthon.
When Blade discloses that Zack has been helping him in a sting operation, he and Krista hesitantly work together.
From Dusk till Dawn: The Series (2014–2016)

In this supernatural crime series, Seth Gecko and his violent, unpredictable brother Richard “Richie” Gecko are hunted by the FBI and Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez after a heist left several civilians dead, including police officers and Gonzalez’s mentor, Texas Ranger Earl McGraw.
Gonzalez is following the Geckos as they run for the border with Mexico. As they approach former clergyman Jacob Fuller and his family, they seize their RV and hold them hostage.
Don Carlos, a drug lord, diverts them to a strip club full of snake-like people who must compete for food to live till daylight.
Once Upon a Time (2011–2018)

Life hasn’t been particularly happy-ever-after for Emma Swan. However, everything changes the night of her 28th birthday when she is reunited with Henry, the son she put up for adoption eleven years earlier.
Henry, who is now ten years old, desperately needs Emma’s help because he thinks she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who want to protect her from a curse imposed by the Evil Queen by sending her away from the Enchanted Forest. Henry got this idea from reading a book about fairy stories.
Emma is initially reluctant to trust Henry’s story, but she quickly discovers that his village of Storybrooke, Maine, is more than meets the eye.
With the exception of the Evil Queen, who doubles as Storybrooke’s mayor, and Henry’s adoptive mother, Regina Mills, all of the well-known characters we all know are frozen in time in Storybrooke.
Wolf Like Me (2022– Present)

The murder of Emma’s mother, Lisa, seven years earlier has left Gary (Josh Gad), a single father, and his 11-year-old daughter Emma in Adelaide, Australia, still suffering from emotional anguish. They meet Mary (Isla Fisher), a shy advice columnist dealing with her own heavy emotional baggage.
She makes an effort to avoid them, but despite her best efforts, they keep running into each other in a series of coincidences that seem to point to destiny.
Gary has trouble communicating with his daughter, whereas Mary practically glides at Emma. Mary, on the other hand, carries a terrible secret around with her that she worries might harm the two.
The Gates (2010)

A metropolitan police officer is appointed chief of police in a gated suburban area populated by vampires, werewolves, wizards, and other supernatural beings.

Dark Shadows (1966–1971)

The plot of Dark Shadows starts when newly hired governess Victoria Winters visits Collinwood, the Collins family mansion in Collinsport, Maine, in an attempt to discover more about her strange past.

A new chapter in the Collins family’s history is revealed when Barnabas Collins, the Collinses’ cousin from England,” shows up and changes the course of the show.
The major character of the witch Angelique, whose jealousy caused the terrible murder of Barnabas’ genuine love, Josette, and who placed the curse on Barnabas, is featured in this revised history.
Wolf Lake (2001–2002)

Police officer John Kanin from Seattle asks his girlfriend Ruby Wilder to marry him, and she says yes. However, she is attacked as she gets into her car. Kanin discovers only a severed hand from his now-fiancee. He goes to her hometown of Wolf Lake in search of clarification.
But his experiences there raise greater issues. John is unaware that some of Wolf Lake’s residents are werewolves. The werewolves, or those who survive the transformation, reside on the “Hill” and are treated differently than normal humans.
Werewolf by Night (2022)

A squad of skilled monster hunters assembles at the towering Bloodstone Manor following the death of their supreme leader, Ulysses Bloodstone.
The trackers must now get ready for a ceremonial hunt to choose who will control the Blood Gem, a mysterious, extraterrestrial artifact with unfathomable powers.
The trackers will include the condemned aristocrat Jack Russell and the patriarch’s adopted daughter, Elsa.
The masks, however, will come off as the air is filled with the enticing aroma of warm, bright red blood. And on a tense, moonlight night like this, there can only be one custodian of the mystical Bloodstone.
Midnight, Texas (2017–2018)

Young psychic Manfred Bernardo, who is hiding from his past, is advised to seek safety in Midnight, Texas, by the spirit of his grandmother. He’ll discover a supportive community there.
Midnight, which is populated by a wide range of characters—including a were-thing, a fallen angel, a vampire, a witch, and a half-demon—faces several dangers from the outside world as it greets the newcomer.
It shows the daily activities of people living in a small village where normal is a relative concept. Midnight provides outcasts with a place to belong and is a shelter for werewolves, magicians, psychics, hitmen, and other people with odd backgrounds.
As they band together to fight the pressures of violent biker gangs, dubious police officers, and shadows of their terrible pasts, the town’s residents forge a powerful and unusual family.
