The film begins with four friends attending the same college in California. Two of the friends, Mike and Travis decide to make the trip together with their girlfriends Stacy and Erica.
They bet one can drive in four hours from San Diego to Las less than 24 hours and back again within 48 hours while bringing back an air conditioner as proof. The one who wins will be the “Alpha Male” of the group for six months until another bet is made.
